Bonjour et bienvenue
I am originally from the Driftless Area along the Mississippi River and have spent the majority of my life in the region between the Great Lakes. Among my earliest memories is my grandfather sharing insights about the commercial fishing boats in the harbor and how they brought their catch to market. The area is known for its apple orchards, dairy farms, and abundant produce stands. As a child, I recall my mother serving morel mushrooms generously—they were so plentiful that they warranted a cafeteria-style spoon.
I have had the opportunity to live beside Lake Huron in northern Michigan, where our neighbors were kind enough to share the best locations for wild blueberry picking. Grass-fed cattle remain part of the landscape, and the variety of local produce continues to flourish. My appreciation of terroir—how place influences flavor—shapes my perspective on food, and this philosophy guides my photographic work. I strive to highlight the significance of simple, local food staples, elevating them in my images to the same importance as more elaborate dishes.
J'ai suivi une formation officielle en photographie au College of Architecture, Art, and Planning de l'université Cornell. Je me suis initiée à la photographie dans le cadre de mon travail d'archiviste, où j'étais chargée de produire des images répondant aux besoins précis des chercheurs et du public. Cette expérience m'a inculqué le souci du détail et de la précision, qui continue d'influencer mon approche de la photographie. Je vis avec mon mari, également photographe, et nos trois beagles : Jeffy, Petey et Maxwell.
